During these challenging times, Oregon parents are more involved in their kid’s schooling and activities than ever. With in-person classes closed for the rest of the school year, now can be a great time to make the most of distance learning by incorporating some educational energy adventures! We have a variety of energy efficiency learning activities on the Oregon Department of Energy website for young Oregonians to explore.

A favorite is Michelle’s Renewable Energy Adventure coloring and activity book. Available in both English and Spanish, the book offers coloring, activities and an informative story as you follow Michelle and her family through Oregon. This book can engage all ages- even curious adults. We have several hands-on activities including instructions on how to do a home energy audit, how to make a solar oven for those afternoon snacks, and how to make a potato battery for the most uniquely renewable energy-powered clock on the block.

That’s just some of the fun and we encourage you to visit the ODOE website to see what fits best for your family and students. You can also request hard copies by emailing AskEnergy@oregon.gov. Send us your mailing address, which activities you'd like, and how many kids you have at home. We will accommodate requests as long as we have supplies available.
