Energy Facility Siting Council To Meet February 22 In The Dalles
SALEM — Oregon’s first state-jurisdictional wind farm (approved back in 2001) and a not-yet-built Wasco County wind farm will be the focus of discussion at the next Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council meeting on Friday, February 22 in The Dalles. The public meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive.
The main items on the Council’s agenda:
Summit Ridge Wind Farm (Wasco County): The Council will receive a brief overview from staff, then hold a public hearing on Request for Amendment 4 and the Draft Proposed Order on the amendment request. The amendment request seeks Council approval to extend the construction start and completion deadlines by two years. Following the hearing, the Council will review the Order and public comments received.
Stateline Wind Project (Umatilla County): The certificate holder of the project has filed an amendment request to change the facility name; re-power 43 existing wind turbines; temporarily disturb previously approved temporary laydown areas and access roads; and new and amended site certificate conditions. Staff at the Oregon Department of Energy determined on January 9 that the request must go through the “Type A” amendment review process. The certificate holder will challenge that determination before the Council as it believes the amendment should go through the “Type B” process. The Council may concur, modify, or reject staff’s determination.
2019 Rulemaking Schedule: Staff will provide a summary of potential rulemaking projects for 2019. The Council will consider approving a schedule.
